Learn about my experience, training, and specialties.

Hi, I’m Avi!

I have been working in different ways to improve mental health and well-being for more than ten years. I graduated from SUNY Buffalo State College in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts and Letters in Public Communication. While in Buffalo for seven years, I volunteered as a Peer Advocate in the community. I created a Jewish Student Organization on the Buffalo State campus, helping Jewish students learn about and connect with their heritage. I moved back to Brooklyn in 2018 with my wife and four kids (two boys and two girls), where I refined my advocacy for children and adults with special needs for three years while working at HASC and then at Advance Care Alliance of New York.

I got my Master of Social Work (MSW) while I worked at Pesach Tikvah Hope Development. I am now a licensed psychotherapist at Crown Counseling Associates. I had dealt with complex post-traumatic stress disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder, grief and loss, and general anxiety.

As a graduate education at Yeshiva University’s Wurzweiler School of Social Work taught me how to understand and use many types of therapy, such as REBT, CBT, DBT, and IFS. When I’m not working with clients, spending time with my family, or learning more about my community, I am attending yoga classes, scheduling a session with my acupuncturist, or working on a new crochet pattern.
